In postwar New York, Vincent Pepi was part of “The Club,” the legendary gathering of artists—including

de Kooning, Kline, Rothko, and Resnick—whose conversations and canvases defined Abstract Expressionism.

This rare photograph, at the wedding of Ray and Marian Spillenger, captures Pepi among his peers,

a witness and contributor to one of modern art’s most vital moments.
